We understand you may not want to publicly share all data you upload and analyze. That's why we give you options to tune how widely each of your sessions can be shared with your name attached.

Groups and events

With Fire Laps, choosing who you share your data with is done through groups and events. Depending on the visibility settings of the group or event, everybody can join them and those with a premium account can also create them. Each time you upload a session, it will automatically be shared to all events that are occurring at the same track during the dates of the event. Furthermore, you can choose to also share the session with one or more groups. Depending on your name privacy setting (detailed below), your session may appear to others in those groups or events with your name attached, anonymously, or not at all.

Name privacy settings

Even if a session is automatically assigned to an event, you can still control if your name will appear next to it.

• Choosing to share with everyone: Everyone logged into their Fire Laps account will be able to see your name attached to the session and its laps and see which groups and events it was shared to (assuming they have access to those groups and events).
• Choosing to share with members of groups or events: You can choose to share each session you upload with one or more groups. This would mean that only other users who are in the groups or events that you share to will see your name next to the session. Outsiders will still see your session as anonymous.
• Choosing to share with members of groups: If you are at an event but only want to share your data with friends but not the whole event, you can choose to only share your name with people in groups that you share to. Anybody who has joined the event will still see your session but it will not have your name attached to it.
• Choosing to share fully anonymously: If you don't want anyone to see your name next to your session, choose this option. Even if you choose to share with a group, nobody will see the session in the group except for yourself and the group admins. If your session is automatically assigned to an event, the same applies: Nobody else would see your upload in the event except for you and the event admins. You can use this to compare your lap with other shared laps in the event without sharing your data.

You have the option of setting a default privacy setting in your account settings, and you can also override this default on any session you upload.

A few reminders

Regardless of what privacy settings you choose, these will always be the case:

• You and everyone else will be able to see all sessions uploaded into Fire Laps. These privacy settings control which sessions have your name attached, but the telemetry data will always be visible. For example, another driver may see your lap recommended as a similar lap to theirs, just like you might see someone else's lap recommended.
• When you upload a session that is shared to a group or event, the administrators of those groups/events will always be able to see your name attached to your session, even if you upload fully anonymously.
• Fire Laps Basic users (users with a free account) cannot see any names but their own. Even if a named session was shared to a group they are a part of, it will still appear as anonymous until their account is upgraded.
