From Lost in the Data to Breaking Barriers

Peter Granberg’s Journey With a Driver Development Platform

For years, Peter Granberg did what most drivers do: he logged laps, watched GoPro footage, and hoped he’d figure out where the time was hiding. He drove a 2014 BRZ with a full KPower k-swap kit and Verus aero, spent weekends at HPDEs, time attack, and track days, and knew his way around consistency. But when it came to actually finding the extra second?

“I wasn’t confident at all,” he admits. “Looking at data was confusing. Mostly, I just watched video and guessed.”

That’s the quiet plateau many drivers hit. You’re putting in the seat time, but you’re still missing the feedback loop that helps pros keep improving.

Discovering a New Way to Develop

When Peter tried Fire Laps for the first time at Gingerman, it didn’t just give him lap times — it gave him something he’d never had before: a system that actually developed him as a driver.

By his very next session, he dropped over a second. At Autobahn, where he thought he’d maxed out, the platform showed him clear adjustments to keep progressing. At Lime Rock, he became the only ClubTR car to break into the 56s — flying through the downhill at 105mph, as fast as the top unlimited car that weekend.

“It felt empowering,” Peter says. “Without this, I’d probably still be a lost puppy trying to understand data.”

Why It Clicked

What Peter discovered is what so many drivers have been missing: a Driver Development Platform.

Instead of just collecting numbers, the platform gave him:

  • Automation: no button presses, no downloads — just drive and it’s there.
  • Clarity: side-by-side comparisons with other drivers in similar cars, showing exactly where he was losing time.
  • Confidence: a UI that made data feel approachable, not intimidating.

“It completely changed how I think about data,” Peter says. “It finally made sense.”

More Than Lap Times

Yes, Peter’s faster now. But what mattered more was what came with it: confidence, consistency, and the feeling that he’s never really plateaued.

His goals are simple — keep chasing podiums and keep improving. A Driver Development Platform gave him the foundation to do both.

“What I love most about Fire Link with Fire Laps is how effortless it is. I don't have to fumble with my phone or press any buttons. I just turn on the car, and it automatically starts logging data and GPS at start/finish. It's completely hassle-free. Beyond the incredible AI coaching, it tracks stats like total laps, hours driven, and number of tracks. I've logged over 500 laps at more than 10 tracks this season. I used Fire Laps throughout my 2024 season and earned 3 first-place trophies and 7 podiums. Sharing live data and fastest laps adds fun competition with friends, and reviewing past laps is a huge advantage when prepping for your next race.”

The Bigger Picture

Peter’s story isn’t just about one driver’s PB. It’s proof that motorsports has entered a new era. Lap timers and cameras can only take you so far. If you want to keep progressing, you need a Driver Development Platform.

Peter just happened to be one of the first to prove it.
